Family on a Student Visa
Student dependent spouse visa (Australia)
Can I take my spouse and children on an Australian student visa? Yes. You can include eligible family members when you lodge your student visa application, either as accompanying applicants or later as subsequent entrants.
For student visas, a family member is your spouse or de facto partner, or your (or your partner's) dependent child who is unmarried and under 18 years of age. You must declare all family members in your student visa application even if they do not plan to travel with you. If you do not, they will not be eligible for a student visa to join you in Australia later (unless they became a family member after your visa was granted).
Minor children
If you have a newborn baby, check whether your baby needs a visa. If two or more minor children apply as subsequent entrants without their parent(s), they must lodge separate applications — one minor child cannot be a dependent applicant on another minor child.
Financial requirement
All accompanying or subsequent entrant applicants must show sufficient, accessible funds or support to cover costs for themselves and each family member of the primary student for the full intended stay in Australia.
